Last trip to Crystal Beach

Tiffany and Johnny went down to Crystal Beach in February.  Here he is looking at a home that I'm sure is gone.

Crystal Beach was an undiscovered gem.  By that I mean, it wasn't very touristy.   New homes were being built but the businesses there were minimal.

Here's a CNN video of Crystal Beach, Texas which was devastated by Hurricane Ike.  It is located east of Galveston.  Access to it is by a 15 minute ferry ride from Galveston. 

Tiffany lived there for nearly a year in 2006 and early 2007 and we went down there several times, including taking my RV.   I'll never forget taking the ferry to go to the "local Wal Mart" in Galveston and seeing the dolphins jumping out of the water as they followed the ferry!  It was so cool.

Here's one person first hand account of surviving the destruction of their home which was on 14 ft stilts when their floor buckled under their feet due to high water and wind!

I nearly cried when I heard how bad the damage was.  We have such fond memories of being there.

Tiffany went back there just a few months ago for a visit.

Mesalands Community College's Dinosaur Museum

We stopped at an interesting dinosaur museum on the way to the 2008 Family Reunion.  This was in Tucumcari, New Mexico. The kids had a ball!
